in the middle of the night
when they are lonely and cold
sick and tired of everything they're told.

because of someone they love
who was just rubbed the wrong way
or just having a bad day

no one deserves to cry
you deserve better
than angry words
and slamming doors.

i won't cry
because i am stronger than that.
not defeated
and the only tears that will shed from these eyes
will only be tears of joy.
